Kids Corner Greek Yogurt Bites

Kids’ Corner

The snack that Baileejo and KyleeJo chose to make this week is Greek Yogurt bits.   These are so simple and easy to make.  All you need is Greek yogurt and your choice of fruit.  The girls wanted to use strawberries (everyone’s favorite) and Greek Gods honey yogurt. Strawberries are a great source of vitamin c.  Just one cup of strawberries will give you your daily intake of vitamin c, which is awesome because vitamin c is an immune booster.  If the fruit that you would like to use is not in season, no worries, frozen fruit works just as well.   We used Greek yogurt because it has less sugar then regular yogurt and it is also higher in protein but it does have higher amounts of fat and sodium. So look for low fat options if you are trying to cut down on fats with your diet.

So, the first thing that Baileejo and KyleeJo did was wash the strawberries and then let mom cut the green leafs off of the strawberries.  Next they put yogurt into a bowl and put the strawberries into the bowl and covered them with yogurt.  After the strawberries were covered in yogurt, they put them on a paper plate and set them in the freezer until the yogurt hardened.  And that is it, so easy and so fun! They really enjoy making their own food and it is a perfect time to educated them on just how this snack is good for them.  It amazes me how they are really interested on knowing how food can make them healthy and strong.

It would not be fun if they did not get messy!

And here is the finished product!  I love how much they enjoy making healthy snacks.
